22-Year old Ajax winger Antony's time at Eredivisie champions Ajax could be reaching it's end. The brilliant Brazilian has been subject to extensive interest from Manchester United, who are now managed by Antony's former manager Erik ten Hag. Manchester United reportedly made a bid for Antony last week according to English journalist David Ornstein. Ornstein stated via Twitter on 18th August:
"Man Utd yesterday made an €80m offer for Ajax winger Antony. Bid rejected as #Ajax intend to keep 22yo Brazil int'l. Unclear if #MUFC will keep pushing - sense is it's unlikely + Cody Gakpo among alternative options."
However despite the sense of unlikelihood, Manchester United are reportedly readying a new bid for the wonderkid. English journalist Laurie Whitwell confirmed via Twitter on Wednesday:
"Manchester United are preparing a new Antony bid.
Ajax insisting on €100m but discussions have taken place over fee + structure.
Ambitious hopes Gakpo might also join are fading.
P.S. Morata talks ended last week over price."
It's fair to say that Antony is certainly pushing for a move to the 20-time Premier League winners. It's been reported by many sources that he has skipped training sessions recently and also missed Ajax's trip to Sparta Rotterdam as he reportedly continues to persuade Ajax to negotiate with Manchester United.
In the 21/22 season, Antony made 33 appearances in all competitions, scoring 12 and assisting 10. And he has begun the 22/23 season just as well, making 3 appearances, scoring 2 and assisting 2.*
Do you think Ajax will negotiate with Manchester United? Do you think Antony will get his 'dream' move to Manchester United?
