22-year old Feyenoord left-back Tyrell Malacia now has a decision to make - Manchester United or Olympique Lyon. On Sunday, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Feyenoord and Olympique Lyon had agreed a combined fee of €15m, however following this agreement, Manchester United have now moved efficiently on an attempt to hijack this deal. Fabrizio Romano said on Tuesday via Twitter:
"Excl: Manchester United are trying to hijack Tyrell Malacia deal! After full verbal agreement with OL, Man Utd jumped into it before it was signed.
Talks with Feyenoord to reach an agreement, Dutch sources confirm.
Detail: Malacia has same agents as Frenkie de Jong."
Manchester United have now reportedly agreed a fee of €15m + €2m in add-ons + sell on clause according to David Ornstein, Laurie Whitwell and Fabrizio Romano.
The widely sought-after full-back has been subject to interest from clubs such as Olympique Lyon, West Ham and Manchester United after a brilliant season in which he helped Feyenoord reach the UEFA Europa Conference League Final. He excelled in multiple stand-out games in a season where he finished with 1 goal and 5 assists.
Malacia joined Feyenoord in 2008 at 9-years old and made his debut for the club on 6th December 2017 in a 2-1 UEFA Champions League win against Napoli, where he played the full 90 minutes. Malacia made his debut for the Dutch National Team on the 4th September 2021, and has since played 4 other games for the 'Oranje'.
