Mikel Arteta is keen to bring in new faces this summer as he looks to build on last seasons progress

and enters his 4th season as Arsenal boss. The gunners finished 5th in the 21/22 campaign which was progress after an abysmal 8th place the previous year. Here we will take a look at answering

"what is actually going on at Arsenal'. Arteta and Edu have already managed to bring in 3 new faces this summer. With Brazilian wonder kid Marquinhos, Porto star Fabio Vieira and 4-time premier league winner Gabriel Jesus being added to the squad fans and Technical Director Edu Gaspar still

have strong ambitions to strengthen.

One of the positions being targeted are central midfielders. Ruben Neves was a player at the top of Arsenal's shortlist but it seems all parties have been priced out of a move due to his staggering price

tag. Your Tielemans has been a name mentioned frequently by the media in past weeks and it's widely known that he is a player massively admired by The North London and seems to now be their

number 1 midfield priority. Their transfer team has worked very hard on this deal before the window began and Ben Jacobs reports that personal terms have been agreed and if Arsenal pays the price

required it can be a very quick and simple deal to complete. However, there seems to be a difference in the valuation of the player. Arsenal believes their price tag is too high at the moment for a player on his last year of contract but many outlets report this deal will happen later in the

window. In past months Arsenal has built up a shortlist of many other midfield targets, following Lucas Paqueta for a long time and holding meetings with representatives of youngster Amadou Onana rivalling West Ham for his signatures although we understand that interest in Onana has cooled and Arsenal are focused on Tielemans, staying in contact with his entourage on a daily basis.

Earlier this week Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Arsenal are in for a different type of attacker and have a mystery attacker that the transfer team have been working on. There were whispers of

the gunners making a bid for Edon Zhegrova however Fabrizio Romano revealed these reports were false. Arsenal are keeping it quiet however there are plenty of names being linked to Arsenal. The

gunners have followed Coady Gapko for a long time and would be open to meeting PSV's valuation. The dutch international even claimed he loved Arsenal and followed Thierry Henry when growing up.

Fans have stirred up excitement on social media talking about the possibility of a return move for Serge Gnabry with the German saying " I still carry the gun in my heart". Theres been many conflicting reports on Gnabry with BILD and BenJacobs stating he is on Arsenals radar in contrast to Fabrizio Romano saying Arsenal have other targets. Another priority for Arteta seems to be signing a left sided defender with David Ornstein claiming

that Lisandro Martinez whose nickname was 'the butcher' for his aggression is Arsenal's top defensive priority. They have had two bids rejected so far but the gunners have faced fierce competition from Manchester United as Erik Ten Hag pushes to reunited with Ajax's player of the

season. Edu has made it clear to the dutch champions they don't want to go into a bidding war and will move on to other options if the price is too high. In past days it seems that the player is now leaning to a move to Old Trafford more if they both agreed the same fee. Despite the large

confidence within the club on sealing a deal for Martinez more likely that Arsenal will move on shortly. With Ajax's large valuation that Arsenal don't want to pay the club have already made moves towards other defenders. Arsenal see Grimaldo as a 'safer bet'. Portuguese journalists are

suggesting that a fee of €7m will satisfy Benfica. However despite rumours of a bid being made its starting to emerge that things may not be as advanced as Arsenal fans would like.

Paul Merson revealed this week after a conversation with Edu that Arsenal fans should be excited as

there should be a couple more big signings coming into the squad. Plenty to look forward to for Arteta's tricky reds as the clock moves closer towards the 1st of September Deadline.
