Sergi Roberto is set to sign a new contract at FC Barcelona according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed via Twitter:
"After many changes and twists, Sergi Roberto will finally sign his new deal with Barcelona later this week. The plan is to complete him on Friday, as per @tjuanmarti @relevo.
New deal will be valid until June 2023 already approved by Xavi."
Sergi Roberto has been a sporadic feature this season for the Catalan giants. He has made twelve (12) appearances, scoring twice (2) and assisting once (1).
Sergi Roberto is a hero in the eyes of many Barcelona fans after his last-gasp winner in 'la Remontada' to send Barcelona through to the Champions League quarter-finals in 2017.
Roberto joined Barcelona in 2006 and excelled through multiple year groups before eventually making his debut in 2010 at the age of 18.
According to Catalunya Radio, Sergi Roberto is set to take a 50% wage cut amid rumours circulating that he will earn less than €6m per year. This will allow Barcelona to cast their eyes onto other areas in the rebuild under ex-player Xavi.
